Madder Lake - 12-Lb Toothbrush (1973)
Music from Australia and New Zealand during the early 1970's:
Madder Lake performing on Hit Scene the hit single '12 Pound Toothbrush' taken from the 1973 album 'Stillpoint'.
Don't laugh, but Madder Lake once caused Queen to be booed off the stage!
During their first visit to Australia, Queen played at the 1974 Sunbury festival, to a hostile crowd who were keen to see Madder Lake. After being booed, bottled and heckled by the stage announcer; Freddie Mercury turned to the crowd and announced that the next time his band were to visit Australia, they would be one of the world's biggest bands. Queen then left the stage to make way for Madder Lake.
Madder Lake eventually faded into the 1970's Australian rock backwater, whilst Queen lived up to Freddie's promise and subsequently, were not to forgive Australia for the next two decades.
